Welcome back to Summer Term 2025!
Welcome back to the third and final full term of the academic year - we are looking forward to another action packed and rewarding term in the run up to July!
Congratulations once again to all the children for achieving over 10,000 house points in the Spring term! Team Cannon (GREEN) enjoyed a silent disco and had a lot of fun! The children are competing for an ice cream experience this half term - a visit from a local ice cream van for the children to enjoy their favourite treat hopefully on a sunny day!
Similar to previous terms, the children were so successful in learning their knowledge about shapes and angles in mathematics. It is rewarding to see how much confidence the children have in tackling these challenges. This term is linked to writing and the children have been set some grammar challenges from their organisers.
Last term saw the Year 3 children visit Rand Farm in Lincolnshire for 3 days where the children got to taste life on a working farm. They cleaned out the animals, fed the animals and generally had a lot of fun learning about a working farm! Plus we got to to play in the amazing play areas! We have already booked again for next year!
Our lucky Year 4 children got to experience beautiful Whitby. We stayed at the Abbey Youth Hostel and spent a few days learning about the history, exploring the beaches. looking for fossils and even went on a boat trip out to sea! We were lucky with the weather - it was sunny and dry. Again, we will be repeating this residential for our children next year!
Summer term will offer the children even more exciting learning opportunities and educational visits which include Reception going to Scarborough, KS1 and 2 are all going to the National Coal Mining Museum, Year 5 are going to York as part of their Victorian learning and Year 6 are going to London for their residential visit in June where they will tour the sights and see a West End show.
Please do keep to hand the diary dates that will be shared with you in the first few days back to school, as it is another really busy term with lots of parent events - Sports Days, Assessment dates, Summer Fayre, Year 6 leavers events plus lots more! (These are also above this message too).
Finally a little update about attendance. Cherry Dale finished the autumn term at 95% but together I am certain that we can increase this. Let's ensure every child is in school every day of this 12 week term. This is an important term due to the number of statutory assessments taking place across school, please make sure your children are in school. If you need any advice or support around your child's attendance please speak to us - we are here to help.
We look forward to seeing you all after the Easter break and cannot wait to see what your children will achieve this term.
With very best wishes,
Mrs Karen Brown
Headteacher
