Welcome back to Spring Term 2025!
Happy new year!
Welcome back to the second full term of the academic year - we are looking forward to another action packed and rewarding term in the run up to Easter.
Congratulations to all the children for achieving more than 8000 house points in the second half of autumn term. This is incredible and shows how much the children aspire to do their very best! Team Brodsworth (YELLOW) enjoyed visit to Parkway Cinema in Barnsley to watch Moana 2. Another memorable experience for our children. We cannot wait to see which team races to achieve the spring award.
We have been blown away with the children's enthusiasm for learning the Geography curriculum challenge. lots of the children now know a significant number of capital cities in Europe. Thank you to parents and carers for supporting your children with these challenges. This term we are asking all children in KS1 and KS2 to learn facts about our Solar System. In addition we are also setting a spelling challenge which will result in a 'Spelling Bee' just before Easter!
Last term offered so many children the opportunity to develop their spoken language - our youngest children in school proudly presented their Nativities as part of their learning about Christmas. The older children proudly hosted carol services at the Church and it was humbling to see the church full of our parents and local community. Thank you to all families for supporting at the many Christmas events including crafts, Bingo and the Christmas Fayre.
Another memorable experience for the UKS2 children was our visit from the Barnsley Imam who came to school and presented about the Islamic faith and the children were able to ask lots of questions. It was really interesting and the children showed respect for a different faith. We are planning to take the children to the Grand Mosque in Sheffield before the end of the school year and the Imam will provide a tour of the mosque.
Spring term will offer the children even more exciting learning opportunities and educational visits which include Reception going to Wigfield Farm, KS1 will be going to Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Year 5 and 6 are off to Magna and Year 3 and 4 will be going on their 3 day/2 night residentials to Rand farm in Lincolnshire and Whitby in North Yorkshire.
Please do keep to hand the diary dates that will be shared with you in the first few days back to school, as it is another really busy term with lots of parent events - curriculum workshops, parent's evenings and Easter events. (These are also above this message too).
Finally a little update about attendance. Cherry Dale finished the autumn term at 94.9% but together I am certain that we can increase this. Let's ensure every child is in school every day of this 12 week term. There were 70 children who achieved 100% for the whole of autumn term, we'd like it to be higher for spring term!
We look forward to seeing you all after the Christmas break and cannot wait to see what your children will achieve this term.
With very best wishes,
Mrs Karen Brown
Headteacher
